E-Sports Betting | Tech giants jumping in VR | Mobile 3D to VR solution

Chinese Government: The market size of E-Sport is reaching 27 Billion RMB, possibility of betting business on E-sports is in discussion.
On Mar,19th, the Chinese Mobile E-sport Games(CMEG)held a press conference in Beijing,China. Chinese government officials stated that the E-sport industry in 2015 was worth 27 Billion RMB. They also stated that research is currently underway on assessing and planning the introduction of E-Sports betting. According to Hang-Seng Bank, this market for the  betting business can bring up to 3.7 Billion RMB in extra revenue to the E-Sports industry.


On Mar,17th, Alibaba officially announces its VR Lab project-Gnome Magic Lab. As preparation for this project, Alibaba acquired one of the largest video streaming websites in China known as YouKu(the Chinese Youtube) . In addition, Alibaba also announced a plan or rather an experiment project focusing on VR shopping, the details haven’t been revealed. At the same time, Baidu also start to add a VR channel with its video search/share site. Tencent is now developing its own headset VR device, with project code DK. Also, they are releasing Tencent VR SDK kit for game developers and other content providers.


Liu,CEO of Super-D, states that their solution for developers is a game driver developed based on Parallax effect. The game driver can turn a typical 3-d mobile game into a VR game to some extent. The game driver will render each game scene image into two image with some visual optimization to support VR devices. This simplified process allow content providers and developers to reduce production cost and development efficiency.
